A man for all seasons - Richard J Hannah
Big H Productions is the brainchild of Richard J Hannah. Richard is one of those multi-talented individuals that is not content with having a single career. He also is a much in demand Management Consultant advising global businesses on how to implement new business processes or technology.
His broadcast skills and technology know-how have been put to good effect in ventures such as Global City Radio and Global Radio 1 - pioneering cloud based radio stations. In 2011 Global Radio 1 was at its zenith, heard in 53 different countries and employing 40 presenters and three production houses. The stations developed the winners (two years running) of the University Radio Broadcasters of the year, ‘The Magic of the Musicals' presented by Lesley Anne Knight transferred to Television(co-produced by Richard Hannah) and former BBC TV 'That's Life' presenters Mike Groth and Adrian Mills challenged the weekend morning DJs on bigger stations with the hugely popular 'AM Show'. As well running the stations technology Hannah was presenting 'The Big H Radio Show' and voicing TV shows and Ads.
As a Director of Clarion TV, hannah implemented one of the earliest all Digital ( no camera tape) Editing suites and also wrote and Directed 'The Kearneys' a full multimedia training 'Soap Opera, for Allied Irish Bank. With BBC Presenter, Mike Groth he wrote and produced the award nominated radio campaign “Your Future your call”. Broadcasting, writing, acting and production were just the start of his CV,
Richard is a highly capable singer/ entertainer and has performed with the late Joe Longthorne, Madeline Bell ( Blue Mink) and worked for the likes of Elkie Brooks, Chris Evans and the late Sir Bruce Forsythe. He has warmed up audiences for celebrity speaker Ade Webster (Author of ‘Polar Bear Pirates’) and sung all over the world.
Much storied, he studied Law, is a former soldier, an all england age group Sprint champion and played Rugbyto a high standard. The highlight of his playing days being a game against members of the then British Lions squad and a game against the then Yugoslav national side - Richard has always thrown himself into whatever he's doing with energy and commitment and an infectious sense of fun, something that he brings to his range of radio shows. His latest seriesis Play the Tape. Play the type is anticipated to start in early 2021 and is a timely reminder that we live in a time when politicians and influential figures are attempting to lower the standards of public office. His tongue in cheek delivery serves as a reminder that we can call this behaviour out in a measured and a mused way.
Hannah has two children, 4 stepchildren and 10 grandchildren, he has settled in Spain with wife Lorraine but maintains a second home in East Anglia.
